A Walk through History, Flavours and Legends
Córdoba - a city of a thousand smells, cultures and colours! At the time of the Caliphate, it was the most important city in Europe - a centre of science, art and religion where Muslims, Jews and Christians peacefully coexisted.
During this unique tour, we will cross the ancient Roman Bridge, learn the secrets of the Alcazar, the romantic stories from under the Gate of the Moon and the Monument to Love, and the wisdom enchanted in the figure of Maimonides. We will also learn about the figure of Al-Gafiqi - a physician and scholar from Cordoba.
We'll take a look at the Judería - the former Jewish Quarter, the colourful Zoco or market, learn about local delicacies (salmorejo, flamenquín, pastel cordobés) and finally stop in the charming Street of Flowers overlooking the Mezquita.
Afterwards, we will go inside this remarkable temple - the Mosque-Cathedral - to see if King Charles V was right to say after seeing the rebuilt mosque:
"You have destroyed something that is nowhere else to build something that can be seen everywhere."
At lunchtime, we'll do what Córdoba locals love - order local delicacies and eat them on the steps of the cathedral, soaking up the city's atmosphere.
And then - a sip of sweet peppermint Arabic tea, which will take us straight back to the golden age of the caliphate. Because on our tour we don't just watch - we touch history with all our senses.
